Thank you Noleen for your comment. Great insight into what your job actually involves. I can understand why work of an L&D professional isn’t easy. But I think the key to a success is to learn as much as possible about your learners and many answers will come out in the process. Strangely, when I think of 'learning about learns' - social learning tools come to my mind. I feel another blog coming up!

Interesting article and a lot of very valid points. One of the first things we do when working with a client is a target audience analysis – if you don’t understand who you learners are, you can’t expect to develop the right learning solution for them. We often find that our target learners are very diverse (for example some will be very tech savy and others won’t – or some will have prior knowledge of a course while others will be completely new to a topic) and so the real challenge is to develop a solution that meets all of their diverse their learning needs.

Thanks for your comment Niall. I’m glad you enjoyed my blog. I’m really gutted I couldn’t attend the second day of Learning Live. It looks like this year was all about the things I’m keen to find out more about. Sigh. Next time I’ll look out for you.
I looked at the link with Andy’s presentation you shared and I found it very interesting. I was surprised to discover that actually Millennials and earlier generations are not that different in terms of using the internet. I suspected the differences in how and what for we use the web would be bigger (I don’t know why, I guess my own labels and assumptions came out, haha. Need to start challenging them now!). But what actually grabbed my attention and made me to pause was the note in Andy’s slides which says: Technology is neither good nor bad, nor is it neutral. (Big question mark in my head now).
Thanks for the link!

Well said Annet. This tallies well with Andy Tedd's session - ‘DIGITAL NATIVES, MILLENNIALS AND MYTHS‘ - at LearningLive, where his academic research debunks much of the generational assumptions that go along with these labels. His supporting Prezi gives the relevant sources and evidence http://prezi.com/xxf1xh8gucc4/digital-natives-millenials-and-myths/
Sorry I missed you at the conference; would have been good to say 'hello' in person.
