Ever heard of the chihuahua vs. lion anecdote?

Last month, I attended a conference session at Learning Technologies, presented by Steve Wheeler (you can follow him on Twitter @timbuckteeth) on the topic of new technologies in training.

Steve is a believable and trustable speaker, self effacing and life referencing, and has the narrative and approach of a seasoned stand-up comedian. He quickly had us under his spell and we clapped and laughed and joined in when requested.

Steve took a fairly wide reaching umbrella approach to the topic, calling, I suspect, on some of his better lines from numerous writings, lectures and anecdotes. The session was fun but on reflection I in fact only remember clearly one thing – an anecdote. That said I think it is a relevant and instructive tale that describes how training companies and training divisions alike should be nimble and clever in the way they react to market change, threats and opportunities.
